Turning an existing workflow into software
I contributed to a four-person college software-engineering team that continued a multi-semester project for a local recreation organization. We translated familiar paper reports into structured browser forms, digital records, and administrator tools.
The shared application connected React form state to Express controllers and MySQL models across six report types. Preserving the paper forms’ terminology and layout was part of the client requirement, alongside review, retrieval, and CSV export.
A collaborative project and a useful reference
Completed in spring 2022, IMS is permanently retired. Its value here is the experience of implementing a real workflow within a team, connecting UI/API/data contracts, and validating behavior with a 30-case Postman matrix.
The public repository preserves the architecture, historical interface, testing approach, team context, and retrospective on validation, authorization, accessibility, and privacy.
